The Project
We had the privilege of taking part in a landmark moment in the history of our great metropolis by supporting the Montreal Roses in the complete development of their professional locker room. This project marked a pivotal step in the growth of women’s soccer, as it now offers athletes a tangible opportunity for both athletic and personal development.
This new living space, which has become a second home for the athletes, is located at the Complexe Multi-Sports de Laval. The facility includes all the infrastructure needed to support the success of the players, including both indoor and outdoor natural and synthetic fields. The Roses’ newly redesigned spaces are versatile, welcoming, and fully reflect the team’s values: encouraging courage, excelling with integrity, embracing diversity, and celebrating community.
In addition to locker rooms and showers, the Roses’ new environment—spanning 10,000 sq. ft. (929 sq. m.)—features a kitchen with a large central island, a lounge area for relaxation, and a fitness center tailored to their training needs. Dedicated rooms for doctors and physiotherapists provide comprehensive medical care, while hot and cold baths ensure an optimal preparation environment for team members. A media room has also been created to increase the visibility of the Roses and showcase their achievements.
The preliminary design of the project was envisioned by ACDF Architecture, while its execution was entrusted to architect Jean-François Dupuis in collaboration with Syscomax. Integrating this new development within an existing building naturally came with its share of challenges, especially given the inherent technical constraints. To address them, our team adopted an approach that was economic, coherent, and functional, making full use of the infrastructure already in place.
For Syscomax, this mandate from the Montreal Roses goes far beyond a simple construction project: it is a mission to support a team that embodies an authentic and emblematic movement for the advancement of women’s soccer—one that promises lasting benefits for the community and future generations of elite female athletes.
