The Project
Established over 150 years ago, the family-owned Cidrerie Lacroix sought to transform its site into a welcoming and gastronomic destination while increasing its operational autonomy. The 2,915 sq ft (271 sq m) expansion was designed to facilitate on-site cider fermentation and bottling, while enabling the development of a new farm-to-table offering showcasing products from its orchard and the Laurentians region.
A portion of the existing building was demolished to make way for a contemporary kitchen and a bright dining area featuring a cathedral ceiling, lush greenery, and expansive windows oriented toward the surrounding landscape. Completed over a five-month period, the work also included the addition of a retail boutique and the reconfiguration of administrative spaces.
The architectural concept draws inspiration from Scandinavian design, with clean lines and light tones, while maintaining a warm, distinctly Québécois ambiance through the use of natural materials. The building’s façade evokes a country barn aesthetic, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens with abundant glazing and black metal cladding.
This project now allows Cidrerie Lacroix to seamlessly bring together apple production, processing, and a culinary experience under one roof, creating a destination that reflects the richness of its heritage.
