An Inside Look at Syscomax: What Sets Us Apart

The Birth of a Vision

Proudly founded by Sylvain Robitaille, Syscomax was born! In its very first year, the company—specializing in building construction—had eight employees and poured all its energy into establishing its credibility. Sylvain’s goal: to build lasting relationships of trust while carrying out innovative and cutting-edge projects.

The First Major Milestone

Projects came one after another for Syscomax. The company reached a significant milestone by completing its first project worth over one million dollars: the construction of an industrial building in Boisbriand.

Entering Complex Environments

Syscomax expands its expertise by completing its very first project in the pharmaceutical sector, a highly regulated environment that marks the beginning of its mastery of complex construction.

Well-Orchestrated Growth

Nine years after its founding, Syscomax has 15 employees across five departments. The company has completed over 100 projects and has seen its revenue increase sevenfold since its inception.

Strategic Integration and the Next Generation Takes the Helm

Thirteen years after its founding and with more than 200 completed projects under its belt, Syscomax was expanding. The company strengthens its capabilities by integrating legal and financial departments. That same year, Mélissa and Jean-Philip Robitaille, Sylvain’s children, join the company, marking the beginning of the next generation and family mentorship.

Innovation in the Service of the Food Industry

Positioned as a leader in agrifood building construction, Syscomax develops a revolutionary wall system that meets the sector’s strict sanitation standards. This innovation, patented in the United States in 2004, enables more sustainable, faster, and more efficient construction.

A New Base of Operations

With over 540 construction projects to its credit, Syscomax needed to expand its facilities to adequately accommodate its growing team. The company acquired a building located on the grounds of Mirabel Airport, which it completely renovated before moving into the top floor, creating a modern, bright, and creative workspace.

Entering a Growing Market

Syscomax took its first steps into the high-density residential sector with Les Tours Axial. This large-scale project resulted in two 12-story towers, each comprising 106 rental units and two underground parking garages, marking the beginning of the company’s expertise in major residential projects.

Following the completion of this project in 2016, Syscomax received the “Excellence in Construction Contract Management” award at the third Défis Marcus Vitruve gala hosted by the Corporation des entrepreneurs généraux du Québec (CEGQ).

The Next Generation Takes the Helm

After several years of experience in various departments of the company, Mélissa and Jean-Philip Robitaille officially took over as co-presidents of Syscomax.

Together, they ensured the company’s growth and sound management, while upholding the excellence and exceptional reputation that characterize Syscomax.

Resilience in a Challenging Global Environment

Despite a second difficult year marked by the pandemic, supply chain challenges, and labor shortages, Syscomax has demonstrated exemplary dedication in successfully completing its projects, maintaining trusting relationships with its clients, and keeping its team united and motivated.

In October 2021, the company gained international recognition by winning first prize in the Grands Prix du Design competition for the Cidrerie Lacroix project.

A New Structure, the Same Mission

Faced with a constantly evolving market, the management team restructured its strategy to ensure the company’s continuity and sustainability. Mélissa became CEO of Syscomax, while Jean-Philip took over as president of Syscomax Immobilier. Together, they combine their strengths and complementary skills to enhance the influence of the company founded by their father, who remains actively involved.

Continuing to Build Our Brand’s Reputation

Driven by a strong, committed, and complementary team, Syscomax approaches 2026 with determination and confidence. More than ever, the company is redoubling its ingenuity to meet market demands, turn challenges into opportunities, and continue building value-driven projects. True to its DNA, Syscomax moves forward with agility, rigor, and boldness, convinced that it is the people behind every project who make all the difference.
